Workforce Planning
Our resources have helped many companies (in both the private and public sectors) to develop and implement effective strategic staffing/workforce planning processes. In some cases they have developed large-scale processes that were implemented on a business unit-wide basis; in others, they developed targeted staffing strategies/workforce plans that addressed specific staffing issues. Here are some examples of recent projects:
- Creating a workforce planning process (including all tools and supporting materials) for a technology company that could be implemented throughout a business unit, while still maintaining the flexibility needed to address the different needs and issues of various groups within that unit
- Helping a global technology company to develop flexible staffing plans that mitigate large "swings" in staffing requirements as project portfolios change
- Developing staffing and development strategies for a major automotive manufacturer that ensure the orderly transfer of production knowledge and experience from retirees to new workers
- Creating workforce plans for a major chain of medical centers that integrate staffing for "hard to fill positions" (such as those in radiology) across multiple locations
- Creating a staffing strategy for an information technology function that focused hiring and development on critical positions while contracting out non-critical, "commodity" work to others
- Working with the manufacturing division of a pharmaceutical to create a quantitative staffing model that defined the staff required to meet planned production levels
